Three Big Games

The next 2 days of the World Cup ought to offer some riveting cricket.
Today sees India in a must-win match against Sri Lanka for a place in the Super 8. Sri Lanka have been “rampant” thus far in the tournament, scoring large totals and looking in total control. India were unconvincing in their loss at […]

Murdered. But why?

Jamaican police have confirmed that Bob Woolmer died of a strangulation and are therefore treating his death as murder. No arrests have been made, although the Pakistan team and many people connected with the outfit have been questioned. One line of inquiry is that there is no sign of forced entry to his hotel room, […]

Time for a new Pakistan

It has been a long time coming but perhaps it is finally here for Pakistan. Things have been going wrong in the Pakistan camp for some time now and the latest controversies and problems will hopefully be the end of the line for the existing Pakistani set-up.
Recent problems, such as Shahid Afridi’s ban, Shoaib […]

Bob woolmer murdered?

According to Jamaican police, Bob Woolmer, who was found dead in his hotel room last week, was found half naked in his room, partially wrapped in a towel.

“A bone in the neck, near the glands, was broken, and this suggests that somebody might have put some pressure on it,” the officer told the newspaper.

Inzamam’s farewell

Inzamam-ul-Haq bowed out of the International one day scene yesterday with a brisk 37, in Pakistan’s win over Zimbabwe. The result was insignificant as a much more immediate situation unveiled: Inzamam’s departure from the game. Irrespective of the events surrounding his exit, he is still one of the most talented men to have played one […]

Bob Woolmer’s death suspicious

As yet, no-one has suggested exactly what “suspicious” might mean, but should their suspicions be correct then it will be one of two things: suicide, […]

World Cup settles down a bit

The first week of the World Cup came chock full of shock, surprise and unexpected things. Ireland beating Pakistan, Bangladesh beating India, Flintoff getting dropped from the England side, and, of course, the sad news about Bob Woolmer. All things were ‘go’ from the off. But things have settled now as the major teams in […]

Inzy quits

Inzamam-Ul-Haq has quit one day cricket and resigned as captain of the Pakistan test side. This is the latest upset in a long list of problems to hit the Pakistani cricket team, starting with the forfeiture of the test match at The Oval last year and culminating yesterday with the death of their coach, Bob […]

England meander through

England successfully navigated their must-win match against Canada in the group stages of the World Cup. Having lost to New Zealand in game 1, a defeat here would have sealed a similar fate to that of Pakistan. Luckily, it didn’t happen, albeit under inauspicious circumstances. For starters, the team was without Andrew Flintoff, who was […]
