Australia falter
The Royal Rumble of the cricket world is a little less than 6 months away, and no, I’m not talking about the ICC Champions Trophy - I’m talking The Ashes - England vs. Australia. And after England regained the Ashes for the first time in a gillion years, speculation on what might happen in the forthcoming series has been rich. Not only was England’s victory considered something of a fluke, were England to go to Australia next year and retain the Ashes then it would be one of the biggest victories in England’s cricketing history.
So in true England style, preparation for the series was losing a test series against Pakistan, scraping a drawed test series against India and losing a 7 match ODI series in the first 4 matches. The Australia camp must have been loving every second of it, watching those bloody poms lose again and again and again, they probably sacked in their training for their test series against Bangladesh and all went down the local watering hole for a piss-up.
Well, it seems that actually may not be too far from the truth. In the first test in Fatullah, Bangladesh, the undisputed minnows of the Test cricket scene (and calling them minnows is being extremely generous), not only managed an incredible 427 in their first innings, with Warne unsuccessful for over a hundred, but have followed it up by pegging Australia to 145-6 at stumps on Day 2. Were Bangladesh to continue and win this match, then it would be unquestionably the biggest victory in their history (considering it would be only their second) but also an enormous upset to the Australian camp.
The remaining few days will certainly be great watching.
