Big Test for the Big Two
As the Super 8’s get underway, both Australia and South Africa, the big two teams of this tournament, are in action. Australia have already won the initial battle in defeating South Africa in the group stages, but in my book, these two sides look the most likely of making the final. But we’ve already seen some of the other teams making a real play for that final spot, in particular the West Indies and Sri Lanka. The West Indies are currently unbeaten and are vying to become the first hosts of a World Cup to win it. Sri Lanka were a league ahead of the other members of their group. In the first matches of the Super 8’s, Australia will take on the West Indies and South Africa will play Sri Lanka.
The results from these two games, and the way in which they played, ought to speak volumes for how this competition is likely to turn out.
Stay tuned.
