Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour

The Sri Lanka tour is just round the corner, so the teams are out. The team for the three test series is:
1. Virender Sehwag
2. Gautam Gambhir
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Sourav Ganguly
6. VVS Laxman
7. Rohit Sharma
8. Dinesh Karthik (wk)
9. Parthiv Patel (wk)
10. Anil Kumble (capt)
11. Harbhajan Singh
12. Ishant Sharma
13. Zaheer Khan
14. RP Singh
15. Munaf Patel
16. Pragyan Ojha.

I am quote OK with the team, just that I feel that Chawla should have been there instead of Ojha.

Mendis magic defeats India in Asia Cup Final

I thought India were a little better prepared this time. I thought India had the edge. I was so wrong. The chokers tag remains, for now.

Dedication of the month : July 2008 : Neil Harvey

Yeah, you saw that right. From this post on, every month six and out would dedicate the month to some cricketer who I feel strongly about. Throughout the month, I would garner facts and trivia about the person. Should be fun.

India v Sri Lanka - Asia Cup Final Preview

Pakistan have still a match to go, but I am not bothered, the Pakistani crowd is not bothered and the ICC is not bothered. Shoaib Malik too. So here I shoot and do a preview thing for the final of the cup. Since my new year in business school begins on Monday, I will ape Dean Jones in doing a SWOT analysis.

Looks cool and all. I am expecting a cracker of a match. But then I was expecting Ishant to take 5 every game. My favorites to win this final would be India. Why? Well, cos I am an Indian, and no one wants their team to lose in a final. And also the fact that there exists something known as the law of averages. Would try to cover the match as it happens this time.

P.S. If you are wondering how MS Goni is a potential Murderer, this one is for you. Ankit’s Believe or not!

India to back Zimbabwe

Cricinfo Said:

The BCCI is unlikely to support any stringent action against Zimbabwe at the ICC’s annual meeting in Dubai next week, a top Indian board official has indicated.

This is regarding expulsion of the Zimbabwe cricket team. The Indian Cricket Setup has been known for ages as the perennial peer-helpers. The Indian Cricket Team toured Sri Lanka, South Africa and Bangladesh when they started or restarted their test journey.

So now, when the entire world (read England and South Africa) wants Zimbabwe to be kicked out of the ICC because they have a dictator who means no good (according to England and South Africa) to the world and to his own countrymen, India has taken the higher moral ground conveying that it is not the fault of the budding Taibus and Mazakadzas of the world that they are ruled by a dictator. India has also tried to convey that all teams needing practice are too bored of the ever confident Bangladesh.

Xavier Marshall : Where did he come from?

This guy can thwack the ball real hard. Being really really short and stubborn, this guy charges a full speed Brett Lee delivery and makes contact on a regular basis. It still is early days for him, but what I see is good, as he read the slower ball too.

Some hope for West Indies Cricket, apart from Chrab of course.

Talking about chrab, his leadership skills have been praised by many, and his batting, well, he has averaged about 75 over the past two seasons in test cricket, the entire dough is more cleverly pointed out by my friend here.

Is MS Goni a potential murderer?

Just saw this on some sidey news channel. MS Goni has been accused of threatening to kill someone. The someone is someone very close to him. The someone is someone who knows him the best. The someone I am talking about is his mom. So when Mrs. Kaur says, we sit up and listen. In human, this means that supposedly MS Goni threatened is parents that he would kill them.

The story pans out as this: First MS Goni fell in love. He was a nobody then (read Indian Domestic Cricketer), with little hope for the future (some might disagree). His parents did not approve of the girl, and they still were providing for his meals. He was pissed. Then IPL happened. He got cash, and got married against their wishes (yeah, that’s still a rarity in India). Well, why don’t I show everything using some technology, as the news guys do these days.

The entire thing looks fishy and all. I am not sure of the truth. The only evidence I have is the interview his mom gave on TV. Lets see how this pans out, what Goni’s reaction is and all. And yeah, what BCCI’s reaction is. What Modi’s reaction is. What Jrod’s reaction is. Like heck I give a damn about any of the above. If you are wondering why I have put Mr Ashraf’s (Pakistan Cricket Boss) photo on the top. COS I WANNA KNOW HIS REACTION WOULD BE. That’s what I care about.

Switch Hitting is fine, but I have a problem

Was busy with my exams those days, so my switch hitting post is here. Its all right about it being not-illegal and not-legal and all that thing, but the question I have is :

Suppose a right handed batsman is switch hitting (a bowler faster than Scott Retirees), he becomes a left handed batsman, and I do no have a problem with that! What I have a problem is, the batting gloves. Anyone who has played cricket knows that the bottom hand (right) thumb has padding while the top hand thumb doesn’t. So, when the guy switches, he is a left handed batsman with no padding on his bottom hand. If the ball hits his thumb, he is so fulton-ed.

This should be a concern, or maybe everyone is not as mad as KP.
