Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

Cricket Trivia (Who Am I?) Answer

Neil Johnson is the correct answer to the last trivia question.

With a broad space between his incisors, he makes for a good caricature model, but this man had real gift and emerged a hero for Zimbabwe in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Bagged three player-of-the-match and was pivotal in getting zimbabwe into the Super Six where they beat South Afica.

This Zimbabwean team had also defeated India in the league matches. Henry Olanga made some news with his singing skills during the same tournament.

This was by far my most favorite World Cup. I didn’t miss a match. Since it happened during the summer break, that made things easier. For months after the tournament, this was the hottest topic at school. Lance Klusener’s explosive batting conjures up in mind, suddenly, and that semi-final runout, too.

Neil Johnson was such a hero of mine that I drew his sketch. It turned out so beautiful that I kept it with me for years. Then I recently threw it while decluttering my room. I guess I shouldn’t have.

Winner:

Biplob Kishore Deb

The answer of the question is Neil Johnson, an excellent all rounder of Zimbabwe. He won three man of the tournament awards in 1999 World cup, leading his team to get into the super six of that tournament. Another interesting thing is that he was a right arm first medium bowler and a left hand batsman

Congrats, Kishore!

Thank you, everyone, for jumping in. We are “testing” this feature at this moment. The goal is to make the contest absolute Google-proof. Any suggestions appreciated! In the near future, we might have actual prizes!
