Don’t worry, we like a challenge
I was in awe of the PR spin machine that managed to find so many positives in England’s recent tour of India, where they got nothing less than a properp whooping. You only have to read the ECB’s annual report and they found something good in it. Well, that makes sense, because there were plenty of positives. But perhaps the easiest way to explain away/excuse the dismal performance out there, was that the plague of injuries that haunted the team from near enough day one. No worries, though, a couple of weeks R&R, and England will be ready for Sri Lanka.
Will they bollocks. Lets consider the list of question marks:
- Michael Vaughan
- Steve Harmison
- Ashley Giles
- Simon Jones
- Marcus Trescothick
And now you can add Jimmy Anderson to that list, who has a stress fracture in his back, and will be out for at least 2 months. And with Sri Lanka already here and winning matches, it’s looking like May is going to be very gloomy in the England camp.
The silver lining? With any luck, Anderson’s replacement will be Sideshow Bob Ryan Sidebottom. Not too bad at bowling, but undoubtedly has brilliant hair.
