Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

International Cricket Captain 2008 - A Preview

by Ankit on June 11th, 2008

ICC captain logoCricket is such a game that it can be very realistically adapted to a game. Growing up, playing these cricket games was quite a source of pastime for me and my friends. There have been many many games, right from the DOS based Graham Gooch Cricket (with the funny analog sounds), to the highly advances Brian Lara Cricket 2008. Even the wonderful presentations by EA over the years cannot be forgotten. Lots of games, each lost with the others.

One such game caught my attention around 8 years ago. It was called International Cricket Captain 2000, a sort of a simulation engine which let you choose your team and then be hands on with all aspects of their cricket, right from where you want the bowlers to bowl to how aggressive you want the batsmen to be. That was not all. Off the field, you had the option to control the training, the team selection and the game tactics. You also had the option to scout for fresh talent and induct them to your team. An amazing thing was that the game had a roster of every current player playing cricket in the world, even the Second XIs of Indian State teams. Amazing.

The game is back, with a brand new version. I can’t wait to get my hands on it in order to review it for you guys. The launch is June 27th, so don’t miss it. Trust me, its fun. Here are a few things the game promises:
