Its Official : Beau Casson is good for nothing

by Ankit on June 13th, 2008

An Ordinary Aussie! :o

I know Mr Casson Sr would have a hard time reading this, but its cool. I feel credit must be given where credit is due. I know all of you don’t want to read a lot about Beau, so I will keep it short.

There was a reason why I kept hyping Casson in my previous posts. The reason was Shane Warne. Warnie had given an interview when he said that he will NOT make an Ashes comeback. He said that there were some very promising spinners waiting in the Aussie ranks. He specifically mentioned Beau Casson then and said that everyone should watch out for him. I was all excited when he made his debut in this very test match.

I saw him bat, and he looked like a fairer Stuart Matsikenyeri. Too dodgy and too contrasting to the other Aussies on the day. He was not here for his batting though.

His bowling, though it came after a bit of wait, was pathetic. He maybe a talent, but you got to bowl better than than on a pitch with some bounce.

Apologies to his lovers.

7 1       43       0      (6.14)

Just doesn’t cut it, specially against the Stanford Indies!

Latest Score : WI :  189/7 ……Aussie second innings would decide everything

WI conceding a lead of 35 on 1st innings and Aus are 330-3 on stumps on Day 3. Probably translates into a 0-2 defeat for the WI.

Duh ! whatever the hell beau casson is how can you completely write him off on the basis of one innings ? nah, not even an innings - just 7 overs !

Unless your a selector then who gives a toss. I’m thinking you aren’t really an Australian cricket fan; more a Monday’s expert kind of guy; maybe sits on the couch telling stories of how you could have made it if not for some minor setback. I’m yet to see Beau be anything but a great ambassador for the game. He speaks of his absolute respect for those around him and those who have gone before him. Put yourself in his shoes for 5 seconds and ……….ah stuff it; the Aussie cricket team isn’t going to lose sleep over your lack of support.

Ankit - bad luck champ, Beau has just bowled the Aussies to victory, in his first test. I’d suggest your first post is more than a little off the mark.

    Matt,

i dont think ankit’s post is off the mark.. the ball to which bravo got out, deserved to be smacked.. bravo was out of the picture and windies were on the losing side… and bravo’s wicket was acutally taken by the Lee (thal) delivery..

Casson is a cigarillo, no filter, no sophistication, and you take him to limp your senses…

C’mon Ankit ! even now; after a solid debut and Pontings comments post game, you can’t give credit to Casson! Well i’m sure he has lost plenty of sleep over your lack of support. Just admit you’re a Victorian/Bryce Mcgain supporter and swallow your pride. Your knowledge of the game is as secure as your right hand. You do know what “Ankit” rhymes with right? Off you go! G’day Matt.

    hey Guys,

thanks for all the generous and not so generous comments.

    some clarifications:
I am not a Victorian, and yeah, i have seen the guy bowl. And yeah, he bowled above average. Best of luck to him. Take care guys, and yeah, No Offence meant :)

All the Aussies spinners, the ones playing in their domestic circuit or the ones been selected are utter crap. FLush them.

I think, it would not be possible to justify the selection of Beau Casson in the Australian side just on the basis of his performance in this test series. It is needed to remember that Shane Warne did not have a good start in his test career and it took quite sometimes for the world to experience the talent and skill of a great bowler like Warne. Actually, I do not bother what Casson does in this test series, because if he has the talent in him, he would definitely flourish it. Why? Because he does not have to compete with a great bowler like Shane Warne for his place in the team, what Stuart McGill had to do throughout his career.
