Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

Man of the Moment: Mohammad Asif

by SixandOut on September 2nd, 2006

mohammad asifHe’s on cloud 9 at the moment. Or if he isn’t, then he ought to be. Where was he in the Test series? I don’t know. But he should have been playing. Injured, maybe. Seems to be a common theme. But having scalped Kevin Pietersen in 3 consecutive games now, he’s really become the spearhead of the Pakistan bowling attach. And with Shoaib now back to accompany him, the two of them really represent a quality opening one day bowling partnership.

I like the guy because he looks nice. Not in a curious way, I mean he’s always smiling. He’s got nice floppy hair, a nice face and he enjoys his cricket. He’s different to Shoaib or Brett Lee, who steams in and his fully intent on knocking the sh*t out of their targets the batsmen. Asif though is intent on bowling well. He enjoys himself. He’s focused, but laid back. And he’s sure got KP’s number.

I wonder if Asif will get the better of KP again in the 2nd One Day international between Pakistan and England at Lord’s, today? Well, he’ll have an opportunity. On a grey, wet, cloudy day, England are batting first and Asif will be wielding the new ball. He ought to get plenty of movement. For the sake of the game, I really hope the weather doesn’t decide it again.
