November Theme at SixandOut
Recently, I ran into a British guy based in Bermuda. He’s been around the Americas for quite a while now, and he’s more of an American now. We discussed cricket. Obviously. He admitted to never getting the hang of the game, but he had the guts to quiz me, quiz someone who blogs about the game.
“Do you know who invented cricket?” he said. Woah, bouncer. After some erms, uhs, and ums, and I finally said, “Cricket’s origin is basically obscure, but it was most likely invented in Britain,”
“Yeah, but who invented it?”
Argh. “Dunno. You can tell me?”
“W. C. Grace, I think. What a scary man he was,”
I sighed. I don’t know where he got that information, but I was pretty sure it was incorrect. The only memory of Grace I had at that time was that of a sturdy looking rotund British with a heavy beard and all.
It was the first time I realized that I knew zilch about the history of the game I follow religiously. Don’t look so happy. You are no genius either.
So, apart from the usual baloney that is SixandOut’s trademark, we’ll have some history education on the site.
I thought I would just announce, lest you start giving me unusual glances when I start talking about Rodney Redmond, W. C. Grace, and the like.
Have a good one!

I’m always happy to share - if you want to re-post anything, feel free. I’m not overly protective - if I was, I wouldn’t have put it up in the first place.
