Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

Only 8, but still amazing and the Test series report card

by SixandOut on June 6th, 2006

Well Murali didn’t get all 10, damn that pesky run out rule and the first “umpire-made” decision I’ve seen in bloody ages. But still 8-70 ish still had the England batting line up in tatters, and enough for Sri Lanka to draw the test series 1-1 with only their second test win in England. And it was all as predictable as everyone, er, predicted. Not a bad start followed by a prompt and dismal collapse, Englans-stylee (innit). Save for a flourish from England jester legend Monty Panesar spanking Murial* for 6, there was not a lot could be said for the England performance other.

Test-series report cards:

England: C-, Must Try Harder.

Sri Lanka: B, Some Good Improvements, Musn’t Rely on Murial So Much

P.S. * Yes, I meant to call him Murial. I felt, given that he spent most of Sunday embarassing all English people, it was time to get my own back, in my own pathetic way, by making a funny out of his name. Hehe, Murial.
