Open legs. Aim. AND KICK!
If you were Sanath Jayasuriya right now, you’d be pretty pissed off. Though if you actually were SJ, then you’d be unlikely to be reading this blog as you’d be much too busy spitting feathers at being left out of the test team for the second test between Sri Lanka and England, at Edgbaston.
So, assuming you’re actually just you and not Sanath Jayasuriya (either way, Hi) then try to imagine what it feels like to try and retire from test cricket, then get persuaded to un-retire, fly all the way to England to not play any cricket, and then, as the highly respectable Gulf News has reported, not play test cricket, the very thing you came out of retirement to do. According to Jayawardene, Jayasuriya will not be “sulking” over the decision to be left out. Hmm.
This can be nothing more than a completely undignified end to an otherwise impressive career. If Sri Lanka lose the 2nd test, he’ll get called up, which will be a kick in the bollocks. If Sri Lanka win the 2nd test, he won’t get called up, which will be a kick in the bollocks. If someone gets injured, he might get called up, which will still be a kick in the bollocks. So… he could be sat on a beach drinking cocktails and listening to cricket OR getting kicked in the bollocks.
I know what I’d rather be doing.
