“Pom” is OK. Dirty pommy scum is not.
In the wake of the inquest into racism in the game, it’s been announced that calling English players “poms” in the Ashes will be OK. Should Australian supporters (or players, for that matter) take it any further, then it won’t be OK. Quite what that means, I’m not sure. But it does occur to me, that we don’t have a great slang term for the Australians. The “Aussies” doesn’t cut it. Suggestions in the comments, please.
