Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

Quirky Quip: We were affected subconsciously, says Gilchrist

by Dinsa Sachan on January 25th, 2008

eat Cricket, sleep Cricket, drink Cricket

After the Perth loss, Adam Gilchrist was reported as saying:

Maybe subconsciously guys were a bit more aware of all the hysteria that was created, which I will happily go on the record and say, I think was way over the top. We won a game of cricket [but] the way we were hung out I felt like we were the ones who had started some sort of riot that had caused the deaths of people. I know it’s sport and it’s serious business [but] I really felt we were hung out to dry

I’d say, in response, maybe. I think same could be said of Indians; their morale went down big time after the umpiring scandal.

Old news, I know, but it’s interesting to me how Australians always want to come up with an excuse.

You lost. Just accept you lost. Period.

Cricket Australia gave the players a list of the excuses they can use for losing at perth.

    Haydens injury.

    Rogers has red hair.

Monkeys were released in our changrooms.

    Tait was eating tofu.

    El Nino.

    The pitch was too slow.

    The pitch was too white.

Global warming is a real threat.

Western australia isnt a real state.

If only we could have batted and bowled better, and made sure India had batted and bowled worse, we may have won the match.

the devil made us do it.
