So, my intuition had been wrong…thankfully!
Of course, I had wanted India to win, but my gut feeling was in conflict with my emotions. Like you know, Pakistan had a superb run in the Super Eight and semis, and it looked like they would take the cake. I am sure many other Indians shared that feeling. After all, we have been witnesses to so many of India’s final debacles that a win (over arch rivals Pak, no less) seemed arduous. But hey, Dhoni’s boys shattered all theories, and fired back a strong rebuttal to all the criticism and jest that had been flung at them since the ODI World Cup.
Not to undermine Pak’s efforts, though. Okay, that’s an expected cliche, but it deserves mentions that the finalists of the TT World Cup had been shamefully ousted by cricketing rookies in the first round of the ODI World Cup. And if there’s anything else I am happy about apart from the championship triumph, it’s the Indo-Pak final. Also, come to think of it, that this Twenty20 game is all about holding your nerve, which Indian boys apparently caught on better than Pakis, and Dhoni (He’s the next add to my hunk list), man, is too good to bear.
OK, I have lots of stuff to say, like every mad cricket blogger, but I assume this is not the right time to be opining. We want to celebrate, don’t we, Cricketos? (My dog Brownie is hiding under the sofa to escape the ear-blowing sound of crackers outside) Here we go. Lots of action for you to feed on.
