Six and Out - Some Serious Cricket

Strauss finds some form

by SixandOut on July 20th, 2007

The 1st test between England and India got underway with a slightly stuttery start. Winning the toss, England captain Michael Vaughan elected to bat. Alastair Cook was out fairly cheaply, but out-of-form Andrew Strauss made runs (96) in a partnership with Vaughan (79). England were looking great at one point, when they were off the field for bad light on 230-odd for 2. But quick wickets at the end of the day (Vaughan and Collingwood) weakened England’s position, as the day closed at 268-4. Earlier in the day, England named Chris Tremlett and James Anderson as their fast bowlers, ahead of Stuart Broad.

India look lacking in bowling with no out and out pacemen to really challenge the England top order. Anil Kumble might be a handful as the wicket deteoriates.
