Words can barely describe. I have so few words I can barely complete. Sentences. It defies all sense of understanding. It’s just, so… bad. Being an England fan is such a difficult task. So many questions. No answers. Just a pitiful sense of frustration and disbelief.

Some days you know you should just stay in bed. The weather here is currently atrocious - howling rain, 40mph winds, fog, sleet - you name it, we’ve probably got it. I had to get up early to do taxi duty to the airport for my folks and initially the plan was to go straight […]

There’s no doubt that the Brisbane test was a great cricket match with a little something for everyone, and the sight of the Gabba full up to the rafters with fans and the noise and, wow. I would love to have been there.
Cricket Australia later announced five-day record crowds for the Gabba of 164,747, 77% […]

The thing that defines all English fans of any sport - rugby, football, cricket - is that we’re hopelessly optimistic. We always believe we can do it. Sneak a cheeky one without anyone noticing. As Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell took to the field on the morning of Day 3, still requiring some 350 runs […]

You can’t take it away from the Aussies that they do play some beautiful cricket. I enjoy watching cricket, and I’ve not seen much better cricket than today. Australia were clnicial, precise and deadly. They did their job brilliantly, starting with a glorious 196 from Ponting, and backed up solidly by runs from pretty much […]

Whilst the title of this post unfortunately forces unintentional thoughts of hairy arses, what’s more unfortunate is Darrell Hair’s removal from officiating in International matches. Well, unfortunate if you’re not Pakistani. No doubt the parties will go late in to the night in Pakistan tonight. The ICC spent 2 days discussing Hair, and finally came […]

England were effectively knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy last night when the West Indies beat India, even with a game in hand. England still have to face West Indies in their last match of the group stages, despite the result being totally meaningless. It should be expected for England to win the match […]

If it helps you to do the Baldrick voice when reading the above title, then please, feel free. In fact, you can just imagine it now:
“What are we going to do about winning the Ashes?”
“I have a cunning plan, m’Lord”
“Oh, do you?”
“Yes, and it’s so cunning you could brush your teeth with it.”
“OK, let’s hear […]

Well, well, well. The ICC Champions Trophy just got interesting. After England got stuffed against India earlier this week, things were beginning to look a bit hopeless ahead of the Ashes warmup on Saturday. But goshdarnit if the group wasn’t just blown wide open as West Indies didn’t just pull down the Aussies’ pyjamas and […]

So the first chapter in the new England side had a distinctly bitter ending. Was it really a new chapter in England’s history? I was hoping so. Flintoff was back. Andersen was back. It was the first cricket after the fateful Pakistan series. The ICC Champions Trophy is the final prelude to the Ashes. And […]
