After Vaughan quit as captain of the one day side, all eyes were on who would be named as captain. Speculation was spot on as it was eventually given to Paul Collingwood. Irony abounds, considering that Collingwood was the most-oft picked player for the chop during England’s recent “down-time”. Fortunately, the crazy men have seen […]

The Twenty20 season hasn’t got off to the best start this year, but I have to say I am enjoying it. It has recently been marred from some peculiar and football-hooligan-esque behaviour at the game between Middlesex and Hampshire, where Middlesex has their dressing room broken in to by thieves who stole wallets and other […]

That’s right - the English domestic Twenty20 season is under way again - teams with silly names, players with silly pyjamas and a bunch of silly rules as the beautiful game of cricket is condensed down in to a frankly silly 20 overs. Batsmen have no time to play themselves in and look to smash […]

Does this series not know when to quit? Just when you thought that a 5-0 crushing in the Test series had to be the lowest point of the tour for all England fans, this match made the tour take a turn for the ridiculous. I actually wasn’t around to see the England get stuffed by […]

Essex were yesterday crowned Pro-40 champions for the second year in a row. (Sort of, as last year it was the Totesport national league, but it’s essentially the same competition, which Essex won last year.) The result was slightly ironic - as they got stuffed by bottom of division Durham, who will now be relegated. […]

That title doesn’t actually make a lot of sense. But my there’s a lot of b’s in there. It’s really got a sting in it’s tail. Get it?
No. OK. Fine. I’ll get on with the story. Cricket’s attempt at being more baseball has fallen flat on its arse today, after the Stanford Super 20/20 has […]

England gifted the Twenty20 to Pakistan on a plate. England were rubbish and got stuffed by a vastly superior Pakistan one day outfit. Shoaib Aktor recently back from injury, and Mohammad Asif (just back) bowled accurately, reducing a promising 40-0 to 55-3, with KP scoring another golden duck, his second to Asif in as many […]

I’ve really enjoyed watching this series on Sky Sports recently. Twenty20 cricket is fun anyway, but there’s something about West Indian Twenty20 (or 20/20 as they seem to term it) which is even more enjoyable. It’s like a slightly village version of English Twenty20. Except for the prize pot - in England, you get […]

What a day! Finals day is always a fun time - three games of the rapid-paced Twenty20 in one day. The two semi-finals were fairly uneventful - Leicestershire seeing off a below-par Essex in the the first semi-final, with Nottinghamshire beating Surrey in the second. The final though, went right to the wire. In a […]

The Twenty20 season has got underway with a storming victory by Somerset over Gloucestershire at Taunton. Somerset spanked a Twenty20 world record 250-3 off their 20 overs, at an astonishing 12.5 run rate. The damage was done by Justin Langer (90 off 46 balls) and Cameron White (116* off 53 balls). Ironically, both Australians.
The Twenty20 […]
